Archiving & Preservation Policy

Every published article is retained permanently at its canonical URL. Once published, an article's URL and DOI never change; if a slug must be retired, the platform serves a permanent (301) redirect from the old path rather than removing or moving the content.

Preservation export

CARDINAL produces a CLOCKSS/Portico-compatible export bundle for each published issue, so the journal's content remains recoverable independent of the CARDINAL platform itself — a requirement DOAJ checks for directly during application review.

No paywall, ever

CARDINAL is diamond open access: there is no author-facing fee (APC) and no reader-facing paywall, at launch or in the future, for any article published under this policy.

This policy page is a Phase 0/1 deliverable published ahead of DOAJ application, per the platform roadmap.
